We have an opening for a Desktop Architect with a 100 year old company here in Minneapolis that continues to grow both domestic and nationally.

The Desktop Architect will be responsible for the company's workstation environment and stability including the overall user experience with technology as it relates to the workstation and productivity toolset. This will include research, design, test, debugging, validation and implementation. This role is also responsible for evaluating new technologies and recommending solutions that improve the user experience and increase productivity. The role will provide excellent client service and ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the in-house information systems that support core organizational functions.



  • Define and document image build processes including testing and QA including design and management of all image task sequences within SCCM 2012 
  • Assist in the response of defining and analyzing issues escalated from the Help Desk and other support teams 
  • Manage complex projects such as researching solutions, developing action plans and implement deployment package solutions 
  • Adhere to existing ITIL processes 
  • Actively participate in the development of new processes to include analyzing problem management, change management and incident management 
  • Evaluate and anticipate the impact of technical solutions on the working environment 
  • Assist in the development of standard operational procedures and design documentation that follows best practices
  • Lead efforts to share technical knowledge (SCCM 2012, packaging, scripting, GPO, PowerShell) with Desktop Engineering team and with other support teams  

Job Requirements  

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree preferred or comparable education and work experience 
  • Experience with computer applications including setup, maintenance and troubleshooting 
  • Experience working with enterprise-wide deployment solutions ITIL foundations certified or proven experience working with ITIL processes 
  • Experience in process definition 
  • Experience with Microsoft Office product suite 
  • Experience with desktop management systems including SCCM 2012, AutoIT, Installshield, Powershell, GPO, scripted installation, VB scripting, and advanced package development and deployment 
  • Experience working with desktop security including patch management, virus protection, and encryption methodologies
